A former chief of the Hardys Chapel Volunteer Fire Department has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $37,000 from the department between 2013 and 2014.
A judge has ordered Terry Priest to serve four years of probation and to pay restitution.
An Overton County grand jury indicted the 51-year-old in 2015 after an audit of the department found missing funds totaling more than $37,000.
Priest had requested judicial diversion in the case, but a judge denied that request.
