Flooding Forces Schools To Close In DeKalb County

A round of overnight rain caused flooding issues in DeKalb County this morning.

Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad members had to evacuate several homes in the Liberty and Dowelltown areas that flooded from surrounding creeks and streams.

Officials said at least one driver became trapped inside a vehicle during a flood, but managed to escape unharmed.

The flooding has forced DeKalb County Schools to close today, along with the Smithville Head Start Center and the First United Methodist pre-school
