A new club hopes to be a positive force for nonprofit groups in the Upper Cumberland.
Co-founder Amber Flynn-Jared said the Highlands Impact Club will have it’s first event July 11.
Flynn-Jared said the concept of Impact Club is like crowdfunding. Three charities address the meeting to share their story. Members bring $100 to each meeting and vote on their favorite charity. The charity with the most votes gets the cash.
“The group, hopefully, will continue to grow each quarter, we’re just over 100 members right now, so that night of July 11 at our first event we know we’ll be giving away at least $10,000,” Flynn-Jared said.
Flynn-Jared said a place for the event hasn’t been determined yet. The group has outgrown its planned location.
The group has been growing on Facebook.
“It’s been awesome to see the way the community is coming together to do something positive, to be able to inject a little positivity into what so many great community outreaches that are out there that most of us living and working here every day don’t know that they’re out there doing good,” Flynn-Jared said.
