Fireman’s Ball Set For Spring

The Putnam County Fire Department is hosting a fireman’s ball in March this year.

Co-hostess and committee member Rachel Tays said this is the first time the proceeds will go to a charity.

“It’ll be going to the Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial Fund, and that fund is set up to honor men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” Tays said.

They have been hosting fireman gatherings since the 2000’s, but this will be the first formal event they will be hosting.

This formal event will be at the Saltbox Inn and Stables March 7. Tickets are available online for $25 a person.

Tays said this is the first time other counties will join for brotherhood and fellowship.

“The event is going to be, we feel like, a great turnout. It’s going to beat the Saltbox this time,” Tays said. “In the past it’s mainly been for Putnam County alone but this year it’s gonna be actually all the counties that surround Putnam County.”

The surrounding Upper Cumberland fire departments includes White, DeKalb, Smith, Overton, Cumberland, Clay, Jackson, Pickett, and Fentress Counties.
