The This Is Living Ministry will raise money Saturday to help the non-profit with its efforts to help local women.
The This Is Living Ministry is an organization that helps women coming out of long-term incarceration and addiction. The ministry provides women with a place to stay and teaching them life skills like resume building and interview skills.
Executive Director Lindsay Holloway said the Ride For Recovery Festival is an important event for the organization.
“It’s a way for the community to come together and see addiction doesn’t just affect one type of people,” Holloway said. “Addiction does not discriminate. We want our girls to be able to see that our community here in Cookeville is super supportive of their recovery and building a new life.”
Holloway said this year’s festival is the biggest it has ever been. There will be a car and truck show, live music, silent auctions, food, and more. Holloway said she expects more than 100 vehicles as part of the show.
The Ride for Recovery Festival is Saturday from 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Hyder Burks Pavilion. Holloway said she hopes the fundraiser will help expand the ministry.
“We are working on our building fund so we can expand,” Holloway said. “We currently serve nine woman, and we are hoping we can double that.”
Holloway founded the This Is Living Ministry eight years ago after her own battle with addiction and incarceration. The This Is Living Ministry will also be holding a banquet in April next year and are currently seeking volunteers to help with the event.
