Fentress Using CDBG Funds For Ambulance Purchase

Fentress County using Community Development Block Grant funding to purchase two ambulances to add to its fleet.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said with the standalone ER almost completed, having the additional ambulances will be a huge benefit.

“Of course, they’ll still have to be making runs going out of the county making runs and such,” Johnson said. “But it will alleviate a lot of the runs that could be brought here to start with and taken care of in this emergency room instead of having to transport folks out of town.”

Johnson said the average cost for the ambulances the county is looking at costs around $300,000. He said the current lead time to get those vehicles is about 30 to 36 months.

“We’re hoping that we’re going to be able to find something more quickly than that but you know it’s one of those things a lot places are looking for right now,” Johnson said. “We’re just grateful and really tickled to be able to use this money to get something we need.”
