Fentress, Jackson, Clay, White Open Shelters

Those worried about Wednesday night’s storms can find shelters across the Upper Cumberland, with Putnam and Overton announcing open shelters earlier Wednesday.

In White County, the YMCA will be open tonight. Celina City Hall’s basement will be available to anyone needing a place to stay. In Fentress County, the Jamestown Community Center will be open.

In Jackson County, EMA has partnered with local community organizations to open shelters tonight. They include Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church, 285 Old Dodson Branch Road; the Fairview Community Center, 109 Fairview School Lane; and Liberty Church of Christ, 5363 Granville Hwy
Granville.

Shelters are available for those in mobile homes, or shelters where residents might be concerned. Emergency officials are also concerned about flash flooding Wednesday night after heavy rains during the morning area. If you live in an area prone to flooding, a shelter might be a good alternative.
