Fentress County working to make its Solid Waste Department more attractive to potential truck drivers.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the commission recently approved a $2 per hour raise for licensed commercial drivers.
“And when that goes into effect we’re hopeful that will help us get that all fixed up,” Johnson said. “We’re looking to make sure we can get our drivers and get what we need for the county and this raise will hopefully get us there.”
Johnson said the county has a big need to drive and recruit these drivers. He said with inflation and rising costs, the county has struggled to find and keep drivers.
Johnson said this raise also comes with the holiday bonus given to all county employees this Christmas.
