Fentress County is trying once more to apply for a Community Development Block Grant to purchase two new ambulances.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said that they missed the grant by just six points last round. He said in the reapplication they hope to address the lost points and get much-needed equipment for the county.
“There were several instances up here this year of course with all the snow and ice that it was hard to get ambulances to the residences that needed them,” Johnson said. “And we’d have to call on the fire department and sheriff’s department and rescue squad to help get the patients out to the main road.”
Johnson said that this time they’ve put in for four-wheel drive ambulances to help with that issue. He said that in re-entering the grant pool, they’ll be able to provide more information to successfully get the grant.
