Enjoy dinner Saturday and help the Fentress County Food Bank in its efforts to purchase a new walk-in freezer.
The Pub In Jamestown will host its second annual fundraiser from 3pm to 7:30pm, featuring a pulled pork or chicken leg dinner complete with fixings for $15. Food Bank Volunteer and Event Coordinator Richard Brown said events such as this can be a great help for the non-profit.
“Every little bit that we can get, that we can have funds that are not directed to specific items, cause there’s sometimes it gets caught up into how the money has to be spent by how the funds are being raised,” Brown said. “Every once and a while it’s kind of nice to be able to direct something, do something that the food bank needs.”
Brown said the annual fundraiser began last year during a conversation with The Pub owners Miki McDonald, Marsha Delk, and Debbie Asberry. Brown said during the conversation The Pub offered their location for a fundraiser to be hosted and for citizens to drop off donations.
“Last year we felt it was very successful and we’re hoping it’s going to be successful again this year, and I’d just like to thank them for their generosity,” Brown said.
Brown said that the fundraiser will also be run by local volunteers who will be serving food.
“Right now it’s exciting but I know by tomorrow that it’s going to be very tiring,” Brown said.
Brown said that it would be a great help if guests are able, to bring in a non-perishable canned item along with their donations.
