Fentress County Prepared for 127 Corridor Sale

Fentress County is set to participate in one of the country’s largest yard sale events beginning Thursday.

Leann Smith is the Executive Director of the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce. She said the Highway 127 Corridor sale benefits everyone in the Upper Cumberland.

“The economic impact is immeasurable not just for Fentress County but for our surrounding counties as well,” Smith said. “All these people, they come in from all across the nation… it does a tremendous amount for the economy not only in Fentress County but also the state of Tennessee.”

Smith reminds locals that traffic may be a bit of an issue in the area of Highway 127 due to the large influx of tourists visiting the yard sale.

“That’s something we encourage folks to practice patience with and appreciate what this event does for the local economy and for the local people out selling on it,” Smith said. “All that money circulates back around our community.”

Smith said the crowd for the event is unlike anything else the county typically sees.

“Its quite different during the Highway 127 sale,” Smith said. “There’s just a lot of people hustling and bustling, looking for bargains, looking for unique finds, and learning more about our rural community.”

The national yard sale stretches nearly 700 miles from Michigan to Alabama and runs through Sunday.
