Fentress County Liquor Referendum Fails

A Fentress County referendum to legalize retail package sales has failed in Tuesday’s election.

The referendum was highly-debated between religious organizations and various citizen committees up until election day.

Roughly 51 percent of voters elected to reject the referendum with a margin of just over 140 votes.

The referendum would have allowed liquor stores to sell in the county, similar to a referendum passed in Livingston last June.
