Fentress County Schools are currently in search of new teachers for the 2018-19 academic year.
Director Mike Jones said they currently have not received many applicants for the open positions.
“Hopefully we start our entering process soon and try to make some decisions,” Jones said.
Despite the lack of applicants, Jones has kept a positive outlook on the search for new teachers.
“It’s a process,” Jones said. “We’re a very high achieving school district and we’ll pick the best possible candidates to fill our positions.”
Jones said the district is prepared in case they do not receive enough applicants.
“We’ll just play it by ear and see where we go,” Jones said, adding shifting current teachers within the district could be a possibility.
Jones said many of the vacancies were opened by retiring staff members.
Openings in Fentress County include teachers in K-6, 7-8, high school English, and elementary guidance counselors. The application deadline is Friday, May 25 at Noon.
