Livingston Academy has completed installation of new directional signage in time for the new school year.
Principal Richard Melton said the signage has been needed for years. Melton said the campus had some mis-matched signs in the past that did not look the same and did not provide uniform directions.
“I mean we’re so excited to have the new directional signs here on campus at L.A.,” Melton said. “And so now when you pull in from either side, there’s plenty of information as to where you need to go as far as event parking or student parking or the main office and student, staff and handicap parking.”
Melton said that people visiting the campus in the past had communicated that they were unsure where to go. He said they could not figure out where to park.
Melton said that input had him noticing signage elsewhere. He said the school had been working on the idea for a couple of years and he had been collecting mental pictures of signs on his travels. Melton said the work had paid off.
“We’ve heard so much,” Melton said. “You know, just randomly, you may see someone out or people call the school or something like that. Just about what a great idea the signs were.”
Melton said a lot of people didn’t think about the need for the signs because they grew up in town or had lived there long enough that they knew the campus and they did not need the signs themselves. But Melton said that vendors, new community members, and visitors all needed the signage.
“And we’re so proud that the Alumni Association here at Livingston Academy purchased the signs for us,” Melton said.
