Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris has announced his decision to seek re-election in 2018.
Farris picked up his qualifying papers re-election earlier this morning at the county election commission office.
Farris said he’s running again so he can accomplish even more goals at the Sheriff’s Office.
“The main thing is being professional and how we are treating our people,” Farris said. “I tell all our deputies when we hire them that most of the people here are good people. They may make a mistake every now and then, but they are good citizens. They pay our salaries and we need to treat them as such.”
Farris said one of his main goals if re-elected would be securing a training facility and shooting range for the sheriff’s office.
Over the past three years, Farris has worked to certify personnel, completed the accreditation process, standardized equipment and resources, and expanded community involvement through several programs like the Citizen’s Academy, Farm Watch and Senior Citizens Awareness Network (SCAN).
