Cookeville’s Fall Fun Fest begins Friday afternoon, which means some traffic changes downtown.
Cookeville Police Major Carl Sells:
“City streets around the square will be blocked to through traffic if you will and obviously that requires folks to pay attention to the barricades, be ready to stop,” Sells said.
Drivers need to be especially alert over the weekend, he said.
“I would anticipate a significant amount of folks coming to the Fall Fun Fest which means they’ll be parking away from the square and walking to the event, meaning they’ll be crossing the street and there will be folks who don’t walk to the intersection to cross, so drivers need to be aware of all the pedestrian traffic surrounding the square beginning tomorrow afternoon,” Sells said.
Sells said drivers should be alert, aware of their surroundings and make an effort not text and drive.
