Fairfield Glade hosts the State of Tennessee’s Senior Golf Open over two days beginning Monday.
The event is open to all professional and amateur players ages 50 and over. The field is set at 126 senior players consisting of some of the top players in Tennessee with a mix of non-Tennessee residents. Tennessee PGA Executive Director Clayton Hromadka said players enjoy visiting the area.
“Everybody walks away really impressed by Cumberland County and by Fairfield Glade and what it has to offer,” Hromadka said. “The exceptional golfing, the people that live there are just incredible.”
Hromadka said the community has shown lots of support as 30-plus volunteers have signed up to help with the event.
“It’s been exciting for me to see firsthand the way Fairfield Glade has stepped up and is just absolutely hitting it out of the ballpark,” Hromadka said.
Hromadka gave props to Fairfield Glade for providing a great facility to host the event.
“I’m absolutely looking forward to it, it’s one of the best fields we have had at a golf course, Jeff Houston and his team have got the course in pristine condition ready to challenge these players and we are very excited to be coming to town.”
Jeff Houston is the Director of Golf at Fairfield Glade. Hromadka said the event came to fruition when Fairfield Glade reached out wanting to find a way to promote the game of golf in the community.
Hromadka said the event will be highly competitive and contain former PGA and Champions Tour players.
“It’s your best players in the State of Tennessee that are 50 and over, coming to battle it out over 36 holes,” Hromadka said.
