Byrdstown – Chair Caning Presented By Cordell Hull State Park. Saturday, February 27th at 10:00am.
Nicole Reeder will be teaching the art of chair caning with a pressed cane reed. You will learn about this ancient art form and will be able to replace the seats of your chairs. Nicole will teach you how to weave a seat for your own chair or she will provide you with a chair. Nicole has been restoring chairs for over 14 years. She works with many different types of materials including flat reed, cane, hickory bark, rush, and shaker tape. Make sure to bring your lunch. Please bring a mask since this is a hands-on class.
This class is $45 if you already have a chair to cane or $55.00 if you need a chair to cane. You need to send a picture of the chair to monique.johnson@tn.gov. Call (931) 864-3247 for more information.
