Election Date Set For Overton Nursing Home

Overton County Nursing Home residents will have the opportunity to vote on October 6th for November’s election.

If visiting restrictions are lifted, the election commission is prepared to send workers on location. If not, employees of the nursing home will assist residents with voting. Overton Election Commission Administrator Craig Story said the plan is similar to August’s election.

“We are making plans, but we got to be adjustable,” Story said. “We got to be willing to adjust, and hopefully, the plans that we made, if we need to, we can adjust those and make them work smoothly.”

Nursing home workers collaborated with the commission in August. Story said the workers understand the importance of secure voting while the commission understands visitor restrictions.

“The nursing home has been really good to work with,” Story said. “We can not ask for a better working relationship then what we got. They understand where we are coming from, and we definitely get their wanting to make things as safe as possible.”

Starting October 14th, early voting will be available. Overton County early voting hours will run Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Election Day is set for November 3rd. Hours for voting will run 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Story said he encourages all residents to participate in early voting.
