Election Commissions Statewide Ready for the Start of Early Voting Tomorrow

Early voting in Tennessee for the November 6 elections begins tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17, and runs through Thursday, November 1.

Secretary of State Tre Hargett said this affords registered voters an opportunity to choose a time to vote that fits into their schedules.

“Tennesseans broke August early-voting records as they selected nominees and elected county officials,” Hargett said. “Interest remains high as voters prepare to select leaders across all levels of government on the November ballot.”

State law mandates establishment of a 100-foot campaign-free boundary surrounding every entrance to a polling place. There may be no display or distribution of campaign materials, nor any solicitation of votes either for or against any candidate within this buffer zone.

In Cumberland County, early-voting hours are Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Cumberland County Election Commission office is at 2 South Main Street in Crossville, directly across from the old courthouse.

In Fentress County, early-voting hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The Fentress County Election Commission office is at 111 North Norris Street.

When planning to vote, either during early voting or on Election Day, remember to  bring a valid photo ID with you. A driver’s license, photo ID from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, or State- or Federal-issued photo IDs are acceptable – even if they are expired. However, college student IDs are not acceptable forms of identification.
