Eclipse Glasses On Sale At Chamber

The Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce has eclipse viewing glasses for sale to the public.

Chamber Vice President of Visitor Development Zach Ledbetter said the glasses are $2 each, cash only.

“Everybody is in high demand obviously, for the August 21st eclipse and if you want to look up at the sun you have to have that safety eye protection, we decided to partner with Tennessee Tech, and we’re selling those currently,” Ledbetter said.

Cookeville’s eclipse celebration, called Cookeville SEE, is listed online at visitcookevilletn.com. The celebration includes an eclipse-viewing event at Tennessee Tech.

A solar eclipse will take place at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21. The Upper Cumberland region is in the “path of totality” with Cookeville getting about 2 minutes and 30 seconds of darkness.
