The East Cookeville Substation will receive its second new transformer Friday, according to the city’s electric department.
The first of two transformers was delivered to the substation in late July and is expected to be installed Thursday.
According to the Cookeville Electric Department, the units will help provide greater capacity and will be more reliable compared to the previous units once installed.
The purchase of new transformers for $1.5 million was approved by Cookeville City Council late last year after a unit that had been in service for over 50 years failed.
No word on when the second transformer is expected to be installed.
