East 10th Street Rezoning Could Bring More Retail

A large commercial rezoning that was once a study item by the Cookeville Planning Commission will be considered later this month.

The Commission will consider rezoning property along East 10th Street and Old Kentucky Road near Highway 111 for planned commercial development. The request was submitted to the Commission in September by Justin Cumby and Titan Development, LLC.

Planning Director James Mills said preliminary meetings indicate approximately six retail structures, including a grocery store, will be included in the development.

Mills said an amendment to the city’s 2030 plan, as well as two approvals from both the Commission and Cookeville City Council, will be required before any construction begins in that area.

A home currently sits on the proposed development site but is expected to be included in the rezoning.

The Planning Commission meets Oct. 22 at City Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m.
