Election season is upon us and early voting is right around the corner. In Cumberland County, early voting begins on Wednesday, October 17, and runs through Thursday, November 1.
Patricia Jolley, deputy administrator in the Cumberland County Elections office, said activities are really beginning to ramp up in the office now, with less than a week to go before the start of early voting there.
If you’re planning to vote early in Cumberland County, you’ll have plenty of candidates to choose from on the first page of the ballot – in the governor’s race. There are twenty-eight candidates on the official ballot in the race for the governor’s chair.
That’s one Democrat, Karl Dean; one Republican, Bill Lee… and twenty-six independent candidates.
The next-most highly populated field is that for U.S. Senate – with a total of eight candidates on the ballot.
Early voting in Cumberland County takes place at the County Elections Office, 2 South Main Street, Suite 105, in Crossville. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 am. to noon on Saturdays.
