Thursday will be the last day that folks can vote early in the 17th Senatorial District Special General Election.
It’s been a low turnout so far in DeKalb County, according to Election Administrator Dennis Stanley.
“It is much better than it was in the primary process. The 10th day of early voting we surpassed the total election number for the primary ” Stanley said. “With one more day to go and election day to go, obviously we will have many more votes that we had in November, but it will not be anywhere near a normal election.”
Stanley said the low turn out can be blamed on having only one ballot on the race and because of Christmas time coming up.
Election day will be Tuesday the 19th.
Republican Mark Pody and Democrat Mary Alice Carfi are squaring off the fill the vacant seat of former Senator Mae Beavers, who resigned to focus on her campaign for governor.
