13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway has been elected to serve as president of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference.
Dunaway said the president of the conference handles various administrative duties to support the offices of all the 32 District Attorneys General across the state. He said the position will benefit the 13th District because he will be able to establish relationships with the legislators who make laws affecting both the district and the state.
“You can really make a difference and guide and direct decisions when you’re – when you step into leadership roles,” Dunaway said. “And I feel that it’s not really – it’s more of a benefit to step into a leadership role than it is to sit back and watch, so I’m glad to take the position and I’m honored that I’m being placed there.”
Dunaway said he will also be working closely with the state legislature to advocate for legislation that will support public safety. He said he will assume the position in June and serve as president until June of 2025.
“I still will spend my time in the district,” Dunaway said. “I have a wonderful staff of sixteen lawyers that work for me, and a total staff of fifty, that will continue to very effectively prosecute our cases in the district.”
Dunaway said he thinks the election is reflective of the good work they are doing in the district.
“It’s an honor to serve the citizens of my district as well as the citizens of the state of Tennessee in this role,” Dunaway said.
