A dump truck overturned Tuesday morning along Hawkins-Crawford Road briefly pinning the driver inside.
40-year-old Travis Proffitt was driving the dump truck north on Hawkins-Crawford Road, between Baxter and Cookeville. He met another vehicle in the curve and moved to the right. The dump truck ran off the right side of the roadway, where the wet ground gave way.
The truck overturned onto its right side, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Though briefly pinned inside, Proffitt escaped the truck and was not injured. The load of gravel spilled from the truck.
The incident happened just after 9am Tuesday morning. No charges filed. Putnam County Sheriffs Deputies assisted in traffic direction in the area.
