Driver Charged for Alcohol Possession in Tuesday Semi Crash

The driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed on I-40 in Cookeville Tuesday morning was cited for alcohol possession and due care.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Emmanuel J Sides, of North Carolina, and 27-year-old Samantha James, were in the semi at the time of the accident. Both were transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

The THP’s report states the accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when Sides, the driver, drove off the left side of the highway heading westbound.

Sides’s semi then hit a guardrail and traveled down an embankment before coming to a rest on its side in the center median.
