Driver Airlifted Following Crash In Baxter

One person suffered injuries during a crash at Highway 56 and the Interstate 40 off-ramp Friday.

Baxter Police Chief Danny Holmes said crews responded to the crash at 9:45 a.m.

“There was a car traveling South on Highway 56 and a tractor-trailer truck was coming off the ramp,” Holmes said. “He lost all of his brakes and plowed right into the car, causing injury to this driver.”

Holmes said a medical helicopter airlifted the injured driver to an out-of-town hospital for treatment. Identities have not been released at this time.

Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers are currently on the scene investigating the crash.
