Thousands of residents lost power in eastern Putnam County Monday night.
Officials with Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation said a downed tree caused the outage.
“When my men got there they found a tree that had washed out of the bank at the corner of Middleford and Old Qualls Road,” UCEMC Cookeville District Manager James Dennis said. “It just laid over on our double circuit line.”
Dennis said the outage affected approximately 2,200 residents for around an hour and five minutes.
Dennis said reports of a car accident causing the outage were not true.
