Cookeville’s Dogwood Park has two projects in the design stage, says Leisure Services Director Rick Woods.
“We’re hoping to add some shade to the arbor areas in the very near future,” Woods said. “We’re in the process of designing the long awaited restroom facility that will go near the playground so that we’ll have a restroom over there on that east side of the park.”
Woods said the department should be ready to present this plan to the city council in the fall.
More park visitors go to Cane Creek because it is larger, Woods said. He said Dogwood Park is still a frequent destination for locals and out of town visitors.
“Dogwood Park is so popular and it’s such an asset to the downtown area in Cookeville,” Woods said. “We’re just fortunate and proud to have it.”
Shaded structures to the Heart of the City Playground will be up for approval by the city council Thursday.
