Dogwood Park Fountain Opening Saturday

The water will again flow at Cookeville’s Dogwood Park fountain on Saturday.

The attraction will resume its regular schedule 7:30 am to 10pm daily.  Woods said the water is treated and filtered just like water in a swimming pool.

Rick Woods, Cookeville Leisure Services director, said large crowds are a concern. “We strongly encourage people to be considerate of others and not overcrowd the fountain area. Social distancing – staying six feet away from others – is still the standard.”

If crowds do become a concern and social distancing is not observed, Woods said the city will consider turning the fountain off to reduce the potential for the spread of the Coronavirus.

“We encourage people to enjoy the fountain, but with caution and in moderation,” he added. “Please stay home if you are sick or exhibiting any symptoms.”

Dogwood Park’s fountain is also a nighttime attraction due to its colorful lights.

“It’s beautiful to watch from a distance,” Woods said. “You don’t have to be in it to enjoy it.”
