Cookeville Leisures Services ushering in the warmer months with the start up of the Dogwood Park Fountain.
Director Rick Woods said the fountain turns on each year around the beginning of April. He said despite the fact that the water is still cold and the temperatures not that warm, the fountain has seen many visitors so far.
“Still have some issues with the fountain but it is operational and people are enjoying it,” Woods said. “And it is clean water and everything is good. It’s just not totally functioning the way we hope it would. But we’re able to limp right on through.”
Woods said the issues are small, including some problems with minor leaks. He said they are developing additional plans to try to get everything up and running the way it was originally designed.
Woods said once the parks turn green and the weather warms up it is a great time for the community to enjoy the parks in the area. He said adding a feature like turning on the water fountain is just another amenity for folks to enjoy and get them outside.
