If you’re looking for some lights to view leading up to Christmas, look no further than Cookeville’s Dogwood Park.
This is the 7th year the city has transformed the park. Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said the department has added a few things each year, but the 40-foot Christmas tree is the centerpiece.
“It comes on at 4:30, and it plays a synchronized music show with lights every hour on the hour,” Woods said. “5 o’clock, 6, 7, 8 and 9. Five shows a night.”
Woods said each show lasts about 15 minutes with some of your favorite holiday hits. Woods said even after the shows, the tree remains lit until 10:00 p.m. every night.
“We also have some photo ops,” Woods said.”We have a sleigh over there that people can sit in and have their picture made with the tree as a back drop. We have a frame, a picture frame on one side of the tree that people can stand in the picture frame and have their picture made.”
Woods said the park also has a large, lit Christmas ornament and a decorated archway. Woods said the whole idea is to just get the community into the Christmas spirit.
“I just think it’s the community spirit,” Woods said. “I think everyone here really gets into the spirit of Christmas and enjoys the time and the community provides good decorations.”
Woods said the decorations will be up until January 3rd. Dogwood Park is located at 30 East Broad Street in Cookeville.
