District Attorney General Jared Effler’s Office Hosted Fentress SRO Training

Just completed training for Fentress County school resource officers is about getting everyone on the same page.

District Attorney General Jared Effler’s office sponsored the training at Cove Lake State Park.  Effler said participation from all five of the counties in the judicial district included some 100 individuals.

He said it reflects the professionalism of the SROs and school administrators.

“I think our school administrators and SROs, they deserve a lot of credit for attending the training and working to equip themselves with information that will enable them to have a much better school year,” Effler said.

Effler said it was important for the District Attorney’s Office, school administrators, and SROs to be on the same page at the beginning of the school year and carry forth that level of communication and cooperation throughout the school year. Effler said he envisioned that cooperation as a triangle between the entitities.

Effler said his office frequently received questions about student welfare issues throughout the year from the five counties in the district.

“Based on our experience and the questions that we know to arise on a frequent basis, that helped us to a large extent in shaping this training to address those issues,” Effler said.
