Tennessee Department of Forestry will be conducting controlled burns in areas across Warren County Friday.
Sheriff Jackie Matheny said in a press release these will help reduce the dangers of out-of-control fires in these communities once dry weather conditions return. Residents should expect a large amount of smoke over the next several days due to smoldering damp vegetation.
The state’s Forestry Division conducts this type of controlled back-burning on a regular basis.
Matheney said while seeing smoke may be concerning, especially after a large wildfire, there is no cause for concern. He said they will be closely monitoring the situation and will notify the public should anything change.
