Former Smithville Mayor Jimmy Poss will appear in court Tuesday on official misconduct and theft charges.
The 72-year-old Poss was indicted and arrested in July after hiring his son, Anthony, to work at the city golf course between August 2017 and March 2018. The Mayor made the hire without the approval of Smithville’s Board of Aldermen.
Anthony Poss, 50, faces one count of theft over $2,500.
The deposition hearing will begin around 9 a.m. at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Smithville.
