The Putnam County Democrat Party’s annual Kennedy Dinner will take place Saturday.
Chairman Amos Powers said a few tickets remain, but a sponsor purchased them and donated them back to the party.
This is the seventh annual Kennedy event, Powers said.
“After every one we start planning for the next one, so as soon as this one’s over, we’ll get a committee together probably at our October meeting and start planning,” Powers said.
With next year’s election, there’s increased interest, Powers said. Local politics have all the interest, but none of the venom, he said.
“I think people here, people here in Putnam County, we may disagree, but we at least listen to each other and go from there,” Powers said.
The Kennedy Dinner will take place Saturday at the Clarion Inn. The keynote speaker will be State Senator Jeff Yarbro. Democrat Gubernatorial candidates Karl Dean and Craig Fitzhugh will be there to meet residents. A silent auction will also take place.
