Democrat To Run For 17th Senatorial Seat

There’s some competition in the race for the 17th Senatorial seat.

A newcomer on the Democratic ticket has submitted qualifying papers for the November 7th Primary.

Old Hickory native and Smith County Attorney Mary Alice Carfi will be going up against established Republican Mark Pody of Lebanon.

Neither candidate faces opposition in the primary, meaning the stage is likely set for Pody and Carfi to face off in the December 19th general election.

Whoever wins the seat will replace Mae Beavers who resigned to focus on her campaign for governor.
