The DeKalb County Board of Education has approved a state mandated 7-percent health insurance increase.
The school system will not be absorbing the increase, meaning higher costs will be passed on to teachers.
About 40 educators met Tuesday evening to voice their concerns. They would like the board to reconsider its decision and come up with funds to cover the increase before the rate hike takes effect.
The teachers plan to ask the board to hold a special session to address the issue.
