Bruce Curtis has been named the new principal of Dekalb County High School.
Curtis replaces Randy Jennings, who stepped down from the position last month. Director of Schools Patrick Cripps said Curtis’s experience in the Metro Nashville school system impressed leadership.
“He had been an assistant principal for Antioch High School and talking to him and his references, they talked about how he ran the school,” Cripps said. “And over the past 10 years, he has been over discipline.”
The career move will be a homecoming for Curtis, who was born and raised in Dekalb County. Cripps said Curtis will officially take over the position on July 1st.
“I am excited to get Bruce back home,” Cripps said. “His experience is invaluable. Anytime you select someone to run a school you want someone who has had experience doing that and knows the ins and outs of how administration works. Everyone I talked to down out Metro raved about his relationship building and how he cares about the kids and staff.”
Cripps said the school system received several applications for the position. Cripps said after interviews, it was determined Curtis was the best fit for the school’s needs.
