Dekalb Crash Injures 12-Year-Old Boy Thursday

A 12-year-old boy suffered injuries during a two-vehicle crash in DeKalb County Thursday afternoon.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the accident happened a little before 3 p.m. on Highway 56.

A crash report said 38-year-old Jeremy Burnsides of Cookeville was traveling South when his Nissan Sentra crossed the center line and collided with a Chevy Silverado, driven by 38-year-old Abraham Andres.

The impact caused the truck to flip several times and travel off the right side of the roadway.

Officials said Andres was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment. His 12-year-old passenger was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Burnsides suffered minor injuries and was charged with failure to exercise due care.
