DeKalb County’s Callie Cripps Is A Dream Big Scholar

callie-cripps-croppedDeKalb County High School Senior Callie Cripps has been selected as the Lite Rock 95.9/106-9 Kicks Country Dream Big Scholar for September.

The award, presented by the Tennessee Credit Union, honors outstanding work in the classroom, leadership in school groups, and organization, achievement in extra curricular activities as well as work in the community. One student from a high school across the Upper Cumberland wins the award each month.

Cripps loves to volunteer her time in the community. The Smithville Chamber of Commerce awarded Cripps for taking aprt in a landscaping project at the Smithville Town Cemetery.

In addition to volunteering around the community, Cripps has a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of Girl Scouts, Smithville Church of Christ, Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of American (FBLA), Health Occupations Student Association (HOSA), and a DCHS football manager.

Once Cripps graduates from high school, she plans to study to become a physical therapist. She enjoys helping others, and wants to assist her community in the future.

Lite Rock 95.9 Morning Show Host Sheila Scruggs visited DeKalb County High School and presented Cripps with a plaque. Cripps will join other Dream Big Scholars from the 2016-2017 academic year at a spring banquet where she could win a $1,500 college scholarship, or one of two smaller scholarships.

106-9 Kicks County and Lite Rock 95.9 joined forces with The Tennessee Credite Union in 2014 to encourage rising seniors who want to Dream Big. Parents, teachers, and local residents nominate graduating seniors for the award.
