Three adults and seven children suffered injuries during a two-vehicle crash in DeKalb County Wednesday night.
The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 56 South and Joe Tittsworth Road.
Officials said 52-year-old Franklin Elliot of Smithville was driving North on 56 in a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Margaret Pedigo of McMinnville was traveling South in a 2016 Kia Soul. The crash occurred when Elliot attempted a left turn and crossed into the path of Pedigo’s vehicle.
Elliot and his 34-year-old passenger Jessica Farris of Smithville suffered injuries and received treatment at Saint Thomas Hospital. Four children inside the car suffered injuries and also received treatment at Saint Thomas.
A medical helicopter airlifted Pedigo and two children inside her car to Vanderbilt Medical Center. A third child received treatment at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
