Deadline For Putnam Virtual Learning Now Tuesday

The deadline for Putnam County parents’ decision on how their child will learn for the remainder of the school year has been postponed to Tuesday at 4:00.

Director of Schools Corby King said the board of education voted to let the county health department handle quarantining and contact tracing within the school. King said parents should be able to review the decision, thus resulting in the extension.

“The health department are really the only ones that have the authority to institute a quarantine,” King said. “We are just following that procedure that is laid out from the Tennessee Department of Health. So with that change, the school board opted to extend that window.”

King said results should be available by Wednesday morning.
