Overnight snow added more weight to ice-covered trees causing more power issues in Overton County.
Overton County Executive Ben Danner said UCEMC crews have had to backtrack over service already restored.
“What’s frustrating for them, they get an area going when they move to another area and then where they were that goes back out,” Danner said. “When they get covered over with ice, it doesn’t take anything much to break those tree branches.”
Danner said the new outages of Thursday have impacted all parts of the county, even Livingston itself which was spared a lot of outages in the first round. Danner said the Allons community continues to be one of the hardest hit areas.
“They they had a main feed going down to the Wheeler Grove area and there were over a thousand residents on that,” Danner said. “They lost that yesterday and they got part of it back.”
Asking residents to help check on neighbors, Danner said he wanted to make sure no one lost their lives being cold. He also encouraged Overton County residents to take advantage of the shelter open in Rickman and in Livingston.
“I mean, optimistically, you know, I’m hoping they get everybody’s power back the next couple of days,” Danner said. “But, you know, that’s that’s probably being really optimistic. You know, it may be three or four days.”
