Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Watch Barge Tours Making Plans To Return

The Dale Hollow Lake Eagle Watch Tour has tentative plans to make a return next year.

The annual excursions were cancelled last year due to COVID. Army Corps of Engineers Resource Manager Stephen Beason said tours will take place on the third and fourth Saturdays of January.

“This is an open barge trip where we take visitors, spectators out on the open barge to view American Bald Eagles on the waters of Dale Hollow,” Beason said.

Beason said reservations can be made starting on November 15th. This year, capacity will be limited to follow COVID precautions. Beason said participants will be required to bring their own life jacket, as well.

Beason said Dale Hollow Lake has one of the largest overwintering eagle populations in the south. Beason said boats visit various shoreline nesting areas and provide a better chance to see several bald eagles.
