A party for a cause will take place Friday on Cookeville’s First Street.
MealFit owner Thomas Cox said Cupcake Wars will run from 6-8 p.m. with barbeque, wings, a DJ, bounce houses and lots of cupcakes.
The idea for the event brought together three things: a boost for small bakers, MealFit’s new Bacon Candy topping, and raising funds for the Cream City sign maintenance.
“So I love small business owners so I wanted to get these bakers that I know that are hustling out there that have a storefront or some that don’t have a storefront and I wanted to get them involved in something,” Cox said.
The bakers created cupcakes using the Bacon Candy topping. Those cupcakes have been sold at MealFit for $1 for the last three weeks.
“They’re going to bring them in here, we’re going to sell them and all the money goes to the Cream City sign, or CityScape, which keeps up the Cream City sign, a lot of people don’t know that,” Cox said.
The whole event ends with Friday’s block party. Red Silo Brewery is a partner in the event.
