Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office put on their dancing shoes and participated in the national lip-sync challenge.
Captain Jerry Jackson said everyone involved had fun while making the video.
“The public had been on us to try to do [the challenge],” Jackson said. “We just tried to get the people in the department that wanted to participate and get together. We had a guy that would shoot our video, and we just all got together and came up with the two songs.”
CCSO selected One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ for the first half of the video, and Austin Mahone’s ‘Dirty Work’ for the second half.
Jackson said deputies in the department selected the One Direction song because they wanted to have a boy band vibe in their video.
“We started watching the [music] video, and we needed a good boy band song, so that was the chosen one. It was kind of all of us together deciding it,” Jackson said. “It was a lot of fun to do, just getting to relax a little bit and have a little fun.”
Jackson said the CCSO was going to use Morgan Wallen and Florida Georgia Line’s ‘Up Down,’ but the department didn’t have the time to make it.
The video – which can be viewed on the department’s Facebook page – has over 600,000 views since being posted Saturday and has been shared by over 21,000 people.
CCSO challenged the Crossville Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to create lip-sync videos of their own.
