The Cumberland County School Board voted Teresa Boston as its chair for the new school year Thursday night.
The board approved Boston to another term with a 5-4 vote. Chris King and Robert Safdie were also nominated.
“I want this board to work together,” Boston said. “I want to move this district forward. I appreciate the confidence.”
The vote came just one day after a contentious specially-called meeting and work session Wednesday. Some school board members expressed concerns about why the meeting was called, why it happened with just 48 hours notice, and why it was scheduled 24 hours before a regular meeting. Those issues were not addressed during the Thursday meeting.
Safdie won the Vice Chair role.
